THE CUBBERLEY PROJECT’s intention is to activate and “humanize” an urban site while introducing and celebrating a beloved but little known Silicon Valley community. The project was selected by the City of Palo Alto Public Art Program and won the public vote in an open event hosted by Oakland Stock grant projects. The exhibit consists of audio interviews and visual documentation collected from the community campus over the period of three weeks. The collected material was shared with the public in the form of oversized public artwork murals and sound installations from June to September 2019 in Palo Alto.

All the visual and audio material displayed in this public on-site exhibit was sourced and captured on campus and features the Cubberley people, their work, voices, spaces, objects, projects and thoughts.

The largest composition “The Flower Wall” a 39Ft mural, is a tribute to the Avenidas Bloom volunteers who recycle flowers donated by local businesses by creating bouquets that they distribute to vulnerable and elderly members of the local community.

Artwork and concept Martha Sakellariou. In collaboration with writer Jennifer Lee (audio interviews and texts). With the support of Cubberley Campus Community, Public Art City of Palo Alto and Oakland Stock micro-grant projects.
